AGRA: A 62-year-old man - the father of a police constable posted in Farrukhabad - walked into Kirawali police station in Agra district on Tuesday with bloodied hands and claimed he had hacked to death his daughter-in-law following a heated family dispute.
The victim has been identified as Priyanka Singh, 28.Resident of Malikpur village, Raghuveer Singh has confessed to the crime.
The victim's husband, Gaurav Singh, a police constable, was not present at the time of the incident.Raghuveer told cops that after the death of his elder son, the widowed daughter-in-law was staying at her in-laws' place and used to have frequent tiffs with her younger sister-in-law Priyanka.
The accused stated that he wanted to keep both daughters-in-law together, but due to their frequent quarrels, there was discord in the family.
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Sonam Kumar, said, "On Monday night, the altercation between the two daughters-in-law escalated, and when Raghuveer tried to intervene, he was kicked by Priyanka, causing him to fall.
He then attacked his daughter-in-law with an axe, severing her head."Kirawali SHO, Upendra Kumar Srivastava, added, "The accused's son is a police constable who was on duty in Farrukhabad at the time of the incident.
On the basis of the complaint by the victim's father, an FIR has been registered against Raghuveer and five other family members." "The victim's husband, Gaurav, has also been named in the FIR.
A case under IPC sections 302 (murder), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) has been registered," SHO Srivastava further added.
