An Afghan man who previously functioned as an interpreter for the U.S.
Army has been apprehended by U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following his arrest on Thursday at a federal court house in downtown San Diego.The male, who is looking for asylum in the United States, was taken into custody quickly after his initial migration hearing.
His detention belongs to a recent wave of courthouse arrests by federal immigration authorities in San Diego and throughout the country.According to FOX 5/KUSI, cellphone video gotten programs federal agents approaching the guy minutes after his hearing.
In the footage, agents can be heard repeatedly requesting for his name.
The guy, accompanied by his attorney, decreased to respond.
Agents then handcuffed him in the court house hallway before presenting a warrant.According to the male, he worked with the U.S.
armed force in Afghanistan and has documentation to support his claim.His lawyer, Brian McGoldrick, verified that his customer acted as an interpreter for the U.S.
Army for three years prior to the Taliban’& rsquo; s takeover in 2021.“& ldquo; He and his brothers likewise ran a logistics business in Afghanistan, supplying considerable quantities of product to U.S.
and allied forces,” & rdquo; McGoldrick said.ICE has not openly discussed the case.
