Casting couch is a grim reality in film industries all over the world. In India, shockingly, many celebrities pretend to deny its existence.

However, over the years, many Indian actresses have come forward and shared their horror stories.

On Day 1 of the India Today Conclave South 2018, in Hyderabad, Kannada actress Sruthi Hariharan spoke about her run-ins with the casting couch, and shared her terrifying experiences.

Sruthi was speaking during a session titled Sexism In Cinema: Time's Up.

The meeting for my first Kannada film left me so scared and petrified. I was only 18 back then," she said, adding that she did not do the film in the end.

However, Sruthi grew wiser and tougher over the years, and learned how to battle such situations.

She related another incident that happened after a few years, "Three or four years later, a well-established Kannada producer told me on a phone call, 'We're five producers, and we will use you and exchange you however we want. I remember this, and I immediately told him, I carry a slipper in my hand and you come to me and I will hit you.

Sruthi said that the word spread, and people began to believe that she was a "weird" and a "difficult person".

However, this ironically, just boosted her career. Sruthi said proudly, "But since then, I've received only good film offers.

In the Tamil film industry, however, her phone call with the producer did not go down very well. She stopped getting good offers for Tamil films.

Her advice to women in showbiz is, "More women need to stand up, to say no to this. You need two hands to clap. Don't just blame the men. Stand up against the casting couch.

Shah Rukh Khan's handsome son Aryan is popular and how!

On January 8, SRK posted on Instagram saying: "Holidays as they say should really be given a speeding ticket. hate dropping my kids to the airport. when holidays end.

And now according to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the dashing lad got practically mobbed, with young girls asking for selfies and pictures. The report further said Aryan was not able to pick his luggage from the conveyor belt because he was mobbed at the airport.

But there is something here to make a note of, Aryan Khan did oblige the girls with pictures (instead of shooing them away) and that's a sweet gesture. Does he get that from father Shah Rukh? Well, certainly looks like.

Aryan has not even entered Bollywood and he is already youth's favourite star kid!

Shah Rukh's kids Aryan and Suhana were in India for their Christmas holidays.

When SRK was asked about Aryan in one of the interviews, he said, "He's learning how to make movies, which is something I am still doing 25 years later (laughs! Gauri and I often sit down and ask each other. Kaun hai yeh bade bade log joh hamare saath rehte hai and are roaming around the house? I see my daughter (Suhana) all dressed up, hanging out with her friends and going out partying. We are liberal parents. Aryan is a tough guy; he does Taekwondo and he's building muscle, but he very sweetly tells me, 'Baba, you can still beat me'. It feels like Gauri and I are stuck in a time warp, where we are living with these two people (Aryan and Suhana), we know them, but we don't associate them as our children who have grown up.

Ankita Lokhande, who is all set to make her Bollywood debut in Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, recently opened up about her role and other interesting details about Kangana Ranaut and much more in an exclusive interview with Mumbai Mirror.

She plays the role of Jhalkaribai in the film. Talking about it, she said: "People only know Jhalkaribai as a warrior and a replica of Rani Lakshmibai, and that made the role doubly challenging. When I discussed my scenes with Danny sir (Danny Denzongpa), he advised me to do it my way and today I believe she must have been someone like me.

She then went on to confess that she was offered a film by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She told the Mirror: "I love Sanjay sir and he lauded my talent and urged me not to waste my time. But I missed out on the opportunity. I would feel bad if something like this (hinting at Padmaavat) happens with our film given how much research we have done. If something happens tomorrow we will stand by the film.

It is well known that Ankita broke off all ties with Sushant Singh Rajput in 2016. Asked about it, she said: "I've always been open about my last relationship but even when I was in one, I didn't talk about my personal life, and I don't need to talk about it now. If it's my career, I can talk to you for hours, but not about this.

When asked about Kangana Ranaut, she was quick to say: "She's sweet with me like she is with everyone else on the sets. We've practised together and she has helped me many times and also praised my scenes and dancing skills. When you are new and someone like Kangana supports you, it really means a lot.

Like every woman, I am a brave girl, capable of handling anything. I don't want to change myself for anyone," she concluded.

'Screen timing does not matter to me'

Sonam Kapoor, who plays a pivotal role in the Akshay Kumar starrer PadMan, says if the character is substantial, she does not mind playing a small yet important role in a movie.

It was the same case in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

After her performance in Neerja which not only received positive reviews, but also got Sonam a special mention at the National Awards, has her criteria for choosing a film changed?

Sonam says, "It is the combination of the story and my character; screen timing does not matter to me, honestly. One does not have to be in every single frame of the film to create an impact of the character. If my part is well-crafted, even with three scenes, my character can make a major impact on the story. And that's what matters.

Sonam says she is primarily interested in working with good directors because filmmaking is a collaborative art where working with the right team brings the best of every creative individual.

So, who are the director she wants to work with?

There are actually few directors that I would love to work with again, like R. Balki, Rajkumar Hirani, Ram Madhvani. I loved working with them. That apart, I want to work with Shoojit Sircar, Vishal Bhardwaj and Shimit Amin among others," she said.

Despite her film choices, the tag of 'fashionista' never goes away from her image. But she says she will always remain unapologetic about it.

I love wearing make-up and beautiful clothes. I think there is nothing wrong with it. If someone judges me based on that, it is his problem not mine.

Seriously, I think when it comes to films, in last few of them, all my directors wanted me not to wear make-up because they think I have very good skin. That is why the no make-up looks. However, I do things in real life that I cannot get a chance to do on-screen. So yes, in public events, parties I flaunt good clothes," said the actor, who has featured in movies like Raanjhanaa, Khoobsurat and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

While Sonam's forthcoming release is PadMan, hitting the screens on January 25, later in the year she will be seen in Veere Di Wedding, which will come out on June 1.
