New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern pregnant

Ardern said she planned to work until the end of her pregnancy in June and then take six-weeks leave, during which time Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters would run the country.

Speaking to reporters outside her Auckland home, Ardern said her partner Clarke Gayford would care for the "surprise" addition full-time and that the whole family would travel together when necessary.

I am not the first woman to work and have a baby. I know these are special circumstances but there are many women who have done it well before I have," she said.

The popular 37-year-old politician's pregnancy is one of the very few examples of an elected leader holding office while pregnant and the first in New Zealand's history. Pakistan's Benazir Bhutto gave birth while she was prime minister in 1990.

Ardern, who came to power through a coalition deal after a closely fought election last year, has experienced a meteoric rise to power as New Zealand's youngest prime minister in more than a century, and its third female leader.

Ardern's rise to power has generated intense interest in her personal life and drew comparisons with other youthful leaders such as France's Emmanuel Macron and Canada's Justin Trudeau.

Ardern was quick to assure the public that she would only take six weeks off, during which time she would still be contactable, so that the country would run as usual.

The short period contrasts with her party's parental leave policies, with the Labour-led coalition expanding paid parental leave from 18 to 22 weeks in one of its first legislative changes. That is set to rise again to 26 weeks in 2020.

Ardern acknowledged that she was "lucky" that her partner, a well-known television fishing show presenter, could take time off to travel with her while he cared for the baby full-time.

She had no plans to stop work until June and would fly to London in April to attend a Commonwealth leader's meeting.

Advocacy groups and politicians from across the political spectrum were quick to offer support.

It's really inspiring. having our prime minister lead by example is a great sign of how far we've come in women's industrial rights in New Zealand," said Council of Trade Unions President Richard Wagstaff in an emailed statement to Reuters.

New Zealand has long held a progressive reputation, having been the first country to give women the right to vote in 1893.

It's amazing timing. 125 years later we have a prime minister who's going to give birth in office," said Minister for Women Julie Anne Genter.

Ardern revealed on Friday that she had unexpectedly found out she was pregnant on Oct. 13, just six days before she was propelled into the country's top job when New Zealand First Party leader Peters announced he was siding with Labour in post-election negotiations.

When asked by a reporter how she had managed putting together a government while suffering from morning sickness, she replied, "it's just what ladies do".

Veteran actress Rekha angry after being ignored at event

Authors: Ecroaker. com Boosters.

Veteran actress Rekha recently attended an award function where she was one of the chief guests. However, apparent unprofessional behaviour by the organisers reportedly left her extremely angry.

It has been reported that the organisers of the event did not receive Rekha when she arrived at the venue. Despite being one of the guests of honour there, the 63-year-old actress had to wait for 15 minutes, but then she got so miffed that she was about to leave, said reports.

However, the organisers of the award show realised the blunder, and soon rushed to welcome the ever-gorgeous lady with an apology.

Rekha was invited for an award show as one of the chief guests of the event. But the moment actress reached the venue, there was no organiser present there to receive her. She waited patiently at the gate for more than 15 minutes, expecting the organisers to come and receive her, but there was no sign of them. This pissed her off and she was almost about to leave when the organisers realised their goof-up and went and apologised to her," according to a Deccan Chronicle report.

Although it is unlikely for most other Bollywood celebrity to bear such treatment, Rekha was gracious enough to accept the apology and attend the event, carrying that beautiful smile on her face.

She was wearing a pink saree at the event, and looked extremely elegant, as always.

Serving judicial officer booked for 'rape' in Jammu Kashmir

Police on Tuesday booked a serving sub-judge on charges of rape after a woman filed a complaint accusing him of eliciting her consent for sex through deceit.

Rajesh Abrol was charged under Section 376 of the Ranbir Penal Code. He is posted as leave reserve with the state High Court. In the complaint, the woman said she was engaged in litigation against a man when, in 2015, she came across a woman who introduced herself as the sister of the accused. She suggested that she meet her brother for legal help.

The complainant met the accused, who allegedly promised to help her if she worked as domestic help at his residence for a monthly salary of Rs 5,000. She agreed to this in order to finance her minor daughter’s education, and started living at the accused’s house, the complainant said. e accused allegedly got the woman’s marriage dissolved by getting a “divorce deed” attested from a notary in Jammu on August 7, 2015.

After a while, the complainant decided to return to her parents’ home in Ramban. However, the accused allegedly told her she had become his wife and assured her he would take care of her daughter. He allegedly told her that he was living separately from his wife for seven years and, being a judge, knew the legalities to make her believe that she was his legally wedded wife, the complainant said. After a few months, he ‘solemnised’ the marriage with the complainant at his house with the help of a pandit from Doda in presence of his PSO and a friend, she alleged.

Thereafter, they lived as husband and wife for a year and a half year. The woman said she accompanied him on his official visits, and attached photographs along with the complaint as evidence.

According to the complainant, it was the wife of the accused who finally approached her and revealed the facts. She asked her to leave as they had both patched up, the complainant said.

The complainant said that the accused has now started living with his wife (second wife after a divorce), and that she was receiving threats from the accused even as she was living in Nagrota with her daughter.

Did Akshay call Twinkle an elephant?

Authors: Ecroaker. com Boosters.

Trust Twinkle Khanna to be witty and funny at the same time. In her recent blog in the Times of India, titled 'What an African safari teaches us about need vs greed', Twinkle shared her experience from a safari in South Africa.

While the family made plans to go, Twinkle soon discovered that it was a four-hour drive each way from their house.

Let's just cancel the safari and get a refund! I hollered at the man of the house from the shower stall. Their website clearly states refunds are not possible,' he yelled back.

Right at that moment, I had a eureka moment though unlike the excitable Archimedes, I didn't leave the bathroom and start running naked on the street. I have an idea. Just call them and say that one member of our group passed away last night and according to our religion, one cannot leave a dead body alone for the first 48 hours! So either they give us a refund or tell them we'll just have to bring the corpse along.

The man of the house did not seem amused, 'Sometimes I think you are insane! I am doing no such thing, we are going and that's final.

And later, something really funny happened and it was none other than Akshay Kumar taking a dig at his wife in the most subtle way.

Elephants form deep family bonds like us,' he explained. Last year, one of our younger elephants died and I saw the rest of the herd gather around it to mourn. They didn't leave the body for days.

My wife is very much like an elephant! And when I gave him a nasty glare, the man of the house hastily added, 'Oh I didn't mean size wise! Just the way she believes in keeping her family close and their corpses even closer!

Now that's hilarious! Don't you think?

On the professional front, Akshay Kumar's PadMan (produced by Twinkle Khanna) is all set to clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat on January 25.

When a leading daily asked PadMan producer Twinkle Khanna about the clash, she said: "It's not pleasant for both [the parties] and will impact both. But they have also been through enough of their own hurdles. But I wish they would have come a week earlier or a week after us preferably. I am sure Mr [Sanjay Leela] Bhansali has made a wonderful movie but we are very confident of our content.

So, I am not apprehensive, and we are not going to move or anything because we are very happy with what [date] we have. laughs). He has been making relevant choices.
