Trump says ‘I'm not a racist’

Trump says ‘I'm not a racist’

US President Donald Trump insisted on Sunday “I‘m not a racist” in response to reports that he had described immigrants from Haiti and African countries as coming from “shithole countries.

Trump also said he was “ready, willing and able” to reach a deal to protect illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children from being deported but that he did not believe Democrats wanted an agreement. tweeted earlier on Sunday that the existing program would “probably” be discontinued.

The debate over immigration policy became increasingly acrimonious after it was reported on Thursday that the Republican president used the word “shithole” to describe Haiti and African countries in a private meeting with lawmakers.

The comments led to harsh recriminations from Democrats and Republicans alike, with some critics accusing Trump of racism, even as bipartisan talks continued in the US Congress to seek a bipartisan compromise to salvage the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA.

Asked by a reporter in Florida whether he was a racist, Trump said: “No. I‘m not a racist. I‘m the least racist person you have ever interviewed.

Trump has threatened to end DACA, but he seemed to keep the door open for a deal when he told reporters before dinner on Sunday night: “We’re ready, willing and able to make a deal on DACA, but I don’t think the Democrats want to make a deal…. mocrats are the ones that aren’t going to make a deal.

Efforts to extend the program are further complicated because it could make a funding bill to avert a government shutdown due Friday more difficult.

DACA is probably dead because the Democrats don’t really want it, they just want to talk and take desperately needed money away from our military,” Trump said earlier on Twitter.

A US judge ruled last Tuesday that DACA should remain in effect until legal challenges brought in multiple courts are resolved.

I hope that we are actually going to work on fixing DACA,” said Representative Mia Love on CNN’s “State of the Union” program on Sunday. nnot let this derail us.

Love, whose parents are from Haiti, had criticized Trump for his remarks and called on him to apologize.

Trump denied making the disparaging remarks on Friday, although US Senator Richard Durbin, who was in the White House meeting, said the president had used the term. One participant at the meeting on Sunday denied that Trump used the term and another said he did not recall Trump making such comments.

Asked on Sunday whether his inflammatory remarks made it harder to get a DACA deal, Trump said: “Did you see what various senators in the room say about my comments? They weren’t bad.

Lawmakers hope to reach an immigration deal before January 19, when Congress must pass a funding bill or the government will shut down. Some Democrats insist that the DACA question be addressed by then.

Lawmakers are trying to combine some form of relief for DACA immigrants along with enhanced border security, including a wall along the Mexican border, sought by Trump. The president’s inflammatory comments left lawmakers struggling to find a path forward.

I hope we can move beyond that. What was reported was unacceptable. But what we have to do is not let that define this moment,” said Republican Senator Cory Gardner on CBS’s “Face the Nation” program.

Republican Senator David Perdue, who was at the same White House meeting and had said he did not recall whether Trump made the comment, was more explicit on Sunday. He called the new stories a “gross misrepresentation.

I‘m telling you, he did not use that word,” he said on ABC’s “This Week” program.

However, Republicans and Democrats have both said they either heard Trump say it, or heard directly from colleagues who did.

Republican Senator Jeff Flake said on Sunday he was told about the remarks by colleagues who attended the meeting, before the news reports emerged.

I heard that account before the account even went public,” he said on “This Week.

One of Trump’s top advisers, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, said on “Fox News Sunday” she did not recall if Trump used “that specific phrase.

She also appeared to rebut Trump’s remarks from earlier in the day. DACA is not dead,” she said.

Trump questions taking immigrants from 'shithole countries'

Trump questions taking immigrants from 'shithole countries'

President Donald Trump on Thursday questioned why the United States would want to have immigrants from Haiti and African nations, referring to some as “shithole countries,” according to two sources familiar with the comments.

Trump’s remarks, made in the White House, came as Democratic Senator Dick Durbin and Republican Senator Lindsey Graham briefed the president on a newly drafted immigration bill being touted by a bipartisan group of senators, according to the sources, who asked not to be identified.

Other government officials were present during the conversation, the sources said.

The lawmakers were describing how certain immigration programs operate, including one to give safe haven in the United States to people from countries suffering from natural disasters or civil strife.

One of the sources who was briefed on the conversation said that Trump said, “Why do we want all these people from Africa here? They’re shithole countries . We should have more people from Norway.

The second source familiar with the conversation, said Trump, who has vowed to clamp down on illegal immigration, also questioned the need for Haitians in the United States.

Many Democrats and some Republican lawmakers slammed the president for his remarks.

Republican US Representative Mia Love, a daughter of Haitian immigrants, said the comments were “unkind, divisive, elitist, and fly in the face of our nation’s values” and called on Trump to apologize to the American people and to the countries he denigrated.

Another Republican Representative, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who was born in Cuba and whose south Florida district includes many Haitian immigrants, said: “Language like that shouldn’t be heard in locker rooms and it shouldn’t be heard in the White House.

Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, a frequent Trump critic, said the president’s comment “smacks of blatant racism, the most odious and insidious racism masquerading poorly as immigration policy.

In an apparent response to his critics, Trump took to Twitter late on Thursday night.

The Democrats seem intent on having people and drugs pour into our country from the Southern Border, risking thousands of lives in the process,” he tweeted.

It is my duty to protect the lives and safety of all Americans. We must build a Great Wall, think Merit and end Lottery & Chain. USA!

The program that was being discussed at the White House is called Temporary Protected Status.

In November, the Trump administration decided to end the status for immigrants from Haiti and Nicaragua. It gave the approximately 59,000 Haitian immigrants who had been granted the status until July 2019 to return home or legalize their presence in the United States. Nicaraguans were given until January 2019.

This week, Trump moved to end the status for immigrants from El Salvador, which could result in 200,000 Salvadorans legally in the United States being deported, beginning in September of next year.

The bipartisan Senate plan would attempt to maintain TPS in return for ending or changing a “diversity” lottery program that has been aimed at allowing up to 50,000 people a year from countries with few emigres to the United States.

Asked about Trump’s comments, White House spokesman Raj Shah said: “Certain Washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries, but President Trump will always fight for the American people.

Like other nations that have merit-based immigration, President Trump is fighting for permanent solutions that make our country stronger by welcoming those who can contribute to our society, grow our economy and assimilate into our great nation,” Shah said.

Another source familiar with the meeting said Trump was questioning why the United States should take in unskilled laborers from the countries under discussion and should instead welcome immigrants from nations that can offer skilled workers.

Priyank's fans beat Arshi's publicist

Authors: Ecroaker. com Boosters.

Bigg Boss 11 contestants Priyank Sharma and Arshi Khan have had frequent fights inside the house, and the two apparently cannot stand each other. Looks like these Bigg Boss 11 fights have now spilt into the world outside too.

Arshi's publicist Flynn Remedios has alleged that some of Priyank's fans in Mumbai assaulted him. Flynn said that he came across some of Priyank's fans on the road, who attacked him for questioning them for making derogatory comments on Arshi.

It all happened on Monday at 10 pm at Lokhandwala when he heard four 20-something-year-olds started talking about Priyank and Arshi, using foul words, said Flynn.

I was waiting outside Infinity Mall at Lokhandwala for an auto rickshaw. Standing next to me were four youths who were smoking and very animatedly discussing Bigg Boss 11, and were talking about Priyank Sharma and Arshi Khan.

When I heard the word Arshi Khan my curiosity was aroused and I stood there, pretending to hail an auto, all the while listening attentively to the four youth. They were discussing about using auto bots and fake accounts to trend a hashtag on Twitter to support Priyank. They were also discussing how fake accounts on Facebook could be used to promote positive news related to Priyank and downplay the other contestants. This got my goat and I spontaneously lashed out at the four youth and screamed at them that they must not speak about a woman using such derogatory and vulgar words," Flynn said in the email.

As soon as he introduced Arshi as his "daughter" to Priyank's fans, they allegedly attacked him mercilessly.

They asked me who was Arshi Khan to me and I said 'she is my daughter'. Without any warning, the four pounced on me and started hitting me with punches and kicks. I was slapped, punched and kicked for about a minute. Fortunately, a Police van was passing by and I yelled POLICE. The youth turned, saw the police vehicle and ran towards Adarsh Nagar," Arshi's publicist said.

However, Flynn does not intend to file any police complaint against the attackers as he feels that filing case will take a lot of time, which he does not want to waste.

I do not intend to file a police complaint as it will be a huge waste of time. I have absolutely no idea who the youth are. What is very surprising is the fact, how they just pounced on me, when I said I was connected to Arshi Khan. Maybe they got infuriated because I had heard their entire conversation," he concluded.
