KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 10Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stated that the roles of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons, formed to investigate cases of human rights violations during the insurgency, will be effectively implemented in line with accepted principles of transitional justice. NHRC urges govt to conclude transitional justice process soon Laws to be made on transitional justice keep victims in centre: PM Dahal During a program organized on the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at the President's Office by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Sunday, the PM shared that the bill for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons has been presented in the House for revision and amendment to the existing provisions of the laws.The PM emphasized that Nepal respects all the provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other conventions related to the protection and promotion of human rights, to which Nepal is a party state. On the occasion, the PM highlighted that the Constitution of Nepal, promulgated through the Constituent Assembly, has adopted policies of proportional representation and positive discrimination to ensure identity, independence, equality, and justice for the underprivileged and economically, socially, and culturally marginalized people.Similarly, the PM pointed out that the implementation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has become more relevant in the context of protecting the human rights of women, children, senior citizens, unarmed civilians, the injured, and inmates during armed conflicts and wars occurring in various parts of the world. .
