KOZHIKODE: An order issued by Kasaragod district collector Inbasekar K on Tuesday, making Sunday (November 19) a working day for all government employees in the district and directing them to attend the Nava Kerala Sadas, has triggered a row, with the BJP and some opposition employee organisations coming out against it.The Sadas, an outreach programme of the LDF government that would see the CM and his cabinet colleagues touring all 140 assembly constituencies, will begin from Manjeshwar in Kasaragod on November 18 and cover the other assembly constituencies in the district on November 19.The collector informed on Wednesday that the order would not affect essential services.BJP state secretary K Shreekanth said the order cancelling the holiday of government employees and asking them to compulsarily attend the programme was issued out of fear that it would be a flop otherwise as there is strong resentment among people against the government.

The pro-UDF State Employees and Teachers Organisation (SETO) also came out against the Kasaragod collector’s order and demanded its revocation.

The statewide inauguration of the programme will be held at Paivallike government higher secondary school in Manjeshwar constituency at 3.30pm on Saturday.Kasaragod district panchayat president P Baby Balakrishnan and collector told a news conference on Wednesday that the chief minister and ministers would explain about projects implemented by the government and plans for the future in the first hour at events to be held in each constituency.

There will be one-hour-long arts programmes after it.

Special counters will also be set up for people to submit applications on issues pertaining to the constituency.

They said 7,500 posters in Malayalam and Kannada and 60 large boards had been put up for the programme in Manjeshwar constituency.

A letter from the CM and brochures had been distributed in wards while meetings of government, aided school managers and headmasters were held and steps taken for transportation facilities, they added.
