JAMMU: The State Investigation Agency (SIA), Jammu, recently arrested a key accused in a narco-terror case registered at Poonch police station from the national capital of Delhi, an agency spokesperson said late Saturday.“On May 30, an attempt was made by four associates of a narco-terror module to smuggle drugs and explosives into India from across the border fence in Poonch.
The accused persons were intercepted by Army’s SIKHLI with arms, ammunition, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and heroin,” the spokesperson said.“During investigations, it was revealed that the group of four (one of whom later managed to flee from the spot) was being supervised by key accused Mohammad Javed, who was also on the run.
Using technical surveillance and human intelligence, it was ascertained that Mohammad Javed was hiding in Delhi, from where an SIA team — led by inspector Lakhvir along with inspectors Vinod and Anil Sharma, assisted by other SIA personnel from Jammu — arrested him,” the SIA spokesperson said. The case was transferred to SIA Jammu on July 6.Further investigation is underway into the cross-border operations of this narco-terror syndicate which smuggled arms, explosives, and narcotics consignments across the border by SIA Jammu.
Aspects of them amassing disproportionate wealth within short periods of time are also under the agency’s scanner, the spokesperson added.
