AHMEDABAD: Sarkhej authorities late on Thursday night charged a 72-year-old guy with the murder of his 69-year-old partner at their apartment in Makarba.

The accused, Kiran Bhow, apparently killed his partner, Usha Bhow, by stabbing her several times on Thursday early morning, ostensibly because he opposed her wish to return to the US for treatment of her cervical cancer.

Kiran then supposedly stabbed himself too, ostensibly to devote suicide.

Usha had severe wounds on her face, chest, stomach and on wrists, whereas Kiran has injuries on his wrists, neck and stomach.

Sarkhej police signed up an FIR for murder based on a problem submitted by Ushas sibling, Madhusudan Soni, a homeowner of Memnagar.Soni said Kiran and Usha had actually returned after residing in Fremont, California, for about 30 years and were residing in a home in Prahladnagar.
